GATA binding protein 4 (GATA4) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a transcription factor. Missense mutations, silent mutations, and nonsense mutations are observed in cancers such as colon cancer, skin cancer, and stomach cancer.

GATA4 is altered in 1.78% of all cancers with lung adenocarcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, esophageal adenocarcinoma, breast invasive ductal carcinoma, and adenocarcinoma of the gastroesophageal junction having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
