Core-binding factor, beta subunit (CBFB) is a gene that codes for the beta subunit of the core binding factor protein. This protein is thought to take part in normal hematopoiesis (Gene 2013a). CBFB is involved in rearrangements observed in AML. Its role in cancer is also being investigated in breast cancer.
The CBFB-MYH11 fusion has been primarily observed in acute myeloid leukemia.
