Overview

NCI Definition [1]:
A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with a diaryl-substituted pyrazole structure. Celecoxib selectively inhibits cyclo-oxygenase-2 activity (COX-2); COX-2 inhibition may result in apoptosis and a reduction in tumor angiogenesis and metastasis.

Celecoxib has been investigated in 16 clinical trials, of which 14 are open and 2 are closed. Of the trials investigating celecoxib, 1 is early phase 1 (1 open), 3 are phase 1 (3 open), 1 is phase 1/phase 2 (0 open), 10 are phase 2 (9 open), and 1 is phase 3 (1 open).

ER Negative, ER No Expression, and HER2 Deficient Expression are the most frequent biomarker inclusion criteria for celecoxib clinical trials.

Breast carcinoma, Ewing sarcoma, and atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor are the most common diseases being investigated in celecoxib clinical trials [2].
