Overview

NCI Definition [1]:
A collective term for pteroylglutamic acids and their oligoglutamic acid conjugates. As a natural water-soluble substance, folic acid is involved in carbon transfer reactions of amino acid metabolism, in addition to purine and pyrimidine synthesis, and is essential for hematopoiesis and red blood cell production. (NCI05)

Folic acid has been investigated in 2 clinical trials, of which 2 are open and 0 are closed. Of the trials investigating folic acid, 1 is phase 1 (1 open) and 1 is phase 2 (1 open).

Microsatellite Stable (MSS) is the most frequent biomarker inclusion criterion for folic acid clinical trials.

Colorectal adenocarcinoma is the most common disease being investigated in folic acid clinical trials [2].

Top Biomarker Inclusion Criteria for Open Clinical Trials Investigating Folic Acid
This graph displays the 20 most frequently occurring biomarkers curated on clinical trials investigating folic acid and the cancer types associated with these biomarkers. These numbers are derived from a set of 5,956 clinical trials for which biomarker status defines treatment.
