Cullin 3 (CUL3) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a core component and scaffold protein of an E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. Missense mutations, synonymous mutations, nonsense mutations, frameshift insertions, and frameshift deletions are observed in cancers such as endometrial cancer, stomach cancer, and skin cancer.
CUL3 is altered in 1.23% of all cancers with lung adenocarcinoma, endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma, bladder urothelial carcinoma, prostate adenocarcinoma, and colon adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations .
The most common alterations in CUL3 are CUL3 Loss (0.07%), CUL3 M299R (0.03%), CUL3 R148* (0.02%), CUL3 R546* (0.01%), and CUL3 R709W (0.01%) .
