Platelet-derived growth factor beta polypeptide (PDGFB) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a mitogenic factor for cells of mesenchymal origin. Fusions, missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift deletions are observed in cancers such as endometrial cancer, intestinal cancer, and skin cancer.

PDGFB is altered in 0.08% of all cancers with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, conventional glioblastoma multiforme, high grade ovarian serous adenocarcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, and endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
