Apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme, catalytic polypeptide-like 3A (APOBEC3A) is a gene that encodes a protein that belongs to the cytidine deaminase enzyme family. The protein functions in immune regulation by inhibiting the transmission of viral DNA. Missense, nonsense, and silent mutations are observed in cancers such as endometrial cancer, esophageal cancer, and thyroid cancer.
