E74-like factor 4 (ets domain transcription factor) (ELF4) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a transcriptional activator. The protein binds and activates the promoters of the CSF2, IL3, IL8, and PRF1 genes. Fusions, missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, skin cancer, and stomach cancer.

ELF4 is altered in 0.03% of all cancers with prostate adenocarcinoma, anal squamous cell carcinoma, angiosarcoma, clear cell renal cell carcinoma, and dedifferentiated liposarcoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
