Glypican 3 (GPC3) is a gene that encodes a protein that may function in the control of cell division and growth regulation. Missense mutations, synonymous mutations, nonsense mutations, and inframe deletions are observed in cancers such as skin cancer, endometrial cancer, and colon cancer.

GPC3 is altered in 0.92% of all cancers with lung adenocarcinoma, melanoma, endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, and breast invasive ductal carcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
