Gremlin 1, DAN family BMP antagonist (GREM1) is a gene that encodes a protein that is a member of the bone morphogenic protein antagonist family. Missense mutations, silent mutations, nonsense mutations, and frameshift deletions are observed in cancers such as skin cancer, endometrial cancer, and adrenal gland cancer.

GREM1 is altered in 0.43% of all cancers with colon adenocarcinoma, cutaneous melanoma, melanoma, bladder urothelial carcinoma, and lung adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
