Phosphatidylinositol-4, 5-bisphosphate 3-kinase, catalytic subunit gamma (PIK3CG) is a gene that encodes a protein that is a member of the pi3/pi4-kinase family. The protein functions in the phosphorylation of inositol rings and the association of adheren junctions. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancer.

PIK3CG is altered in 2.68% of all cancers with lung adenocarcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, cutaneous melanoma, endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma, and breast invasive ductal carcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
