Pleiomorphic adenoma gene 1 (PLAG1) is a gene that encodes a zinc finger protein that functions as a transcription factor that up-regulates target genes to foster cell proliferation. Fusions, missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift deletions and insertions are observed in cancers such as endometrial cancer, intestinal cancer, and skin cancer.

PLAG1 is altered in 0.13% of all cancers with conventional glioblastoma multiforme, skin squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma of unknown primary, bladder urothelial carcinoma, and colon adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
