Protein tyrosine phosphatase, receptor type, D (PTPRD) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a protein tyrosine kinase. The protein regulates multiple cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift deletions and insertions are observed in cancers such as esophageal cancer, skin cancer, and stomach cancer.

PTPRD is altered in 4.70% of all cancers with lung adenocarcinoma, breast invasive ductal carcinoma, cutaneous melanoma, colon adenocarcinoma, and endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].

The most common alterations in PTPRD are PTPRD Mutation (4.55%), PTPRD Loss (0.41%), PTPRD Amplification (0.28%), PTPRD E406K (0.04%), and PTPRD S431L (0.04%) [3].
