Zinc finger, MYM-type 3 (ZMYM3) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a component of histone-deacetylase-containing multiprotein complexes that silence genes through the modification of chromatin structure. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, frameshift deletions and insertions, and in-frame deletions are observed in cancers such as endometrial cancer, intestinal cancer, and urinary tract cancer.

ZMYM3 is altered in 1.93% of all cancers with conventional glioblastoma multiforme, colon adenocarcinoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
