Fibroblast growth factor 6 (FGF6) is a gene that encodes a protein with mitogenic activity that functions in embryonic development and cell growth. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, skin cancer, and stomach cancer.

FGF6 is altered in 1.52% of all cancers with breast invasive ductal carcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, cutaneous melanoma, melanoma, and lung adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations [3].
